North American Coordinator
Ryan MacDowell joined the Dearwalk American Learning Institute in 2019 as the North American Coordinator. He has supported
educational institutions globally in roles spanning student services, development, and communications for over 10 years.
He now serves as the Communications Strategist and Projects Coordinator at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)
for the MIT Teaching + Learning Lab, a leader in cultivating best practices for teaching, learning, research, assessment,
Ryan is personally committed to improving the quality and accessibility of education worldwide by advancing educational
technology, educational media, and student leadership development.
As part of his role as DALI's North American Coordinator, Ryan manages the English curriculum development in partnership
with local teachers in Nepal and serves as one of the American teachers of English as a Foreign Language (EFL). In his
home state of Massachusetts, he also volunteers as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for MIT's ESL Program for
Ryan has a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology and Behavioral Science from McGill University in Quebec, Canada, and is
now pursuing a Masters in Digital Media Design at Harvard Extension School. Prior to working at MIT, he founded and directed
a video production company focused on promoting social impact (2013-18) and developed student leadership programming for
McGill University (2011-13).
